The math broke. Disability income no longer covers rent in our region.

A veteran rated 50% disabled receives roughly $1,075 per month from the Department of Veterans Affairs. A modest two-bedroom in the Baltimore region rents for about $2,314. HUD-VASH vouchers stall when Fair Market Rents lag actual rents. Intake windows measured in months leave veterans in crisis with weeks.

CHV closes that specific gap for Maryland veterans that federal programs are not reaching. Not another program layer. Direct housing placements and rent assistance, where the math actually breaks.

  • Is my donation tax-deductible?

    Yes. CHV is a registered 501(c)(3). EIN 92-3849743. Zeffy issues automated receipts.

  • Why do we use Zeffy instead of Stripe or PayPal?

    Zeffy charges zero platform fees. 100 percent of your gift reaches CHV. Donors may optionally tip Zeffy.

  • Does CHV run a direct cash aid program today?

    No. CHV's current service is stable housing solutions. A donor-to-veteran gifting concept is in early planning and development. If and when it launches, it will use accountable merchant-category-locked prepaid cards for essentials like food, transportation, medication, and clothing. Not cash. Not yet live.

  • Can I give in someone's honor?

    Yes. Zeffy supports memorial and tribute gifts.

  • Can I give stock or from a donor-advised fund (DAF)?

    Yes. Contact us via the Contact page for wiring instructions and DAF intake.

  • How do I manage a recurring gift?
