A service provider meeting with a veteran
Pillar 2 of 3

Services

Housing is CHV's core work. We provide wrap-around support directly, in a limited capacity, and vetted partners augment and multiply it. Five categories. One accountable owner per veteran.

The problem we are solving

The math broke. Disability income no longer covers rent in our region.

A veteran rated 50% disabled receives roughly $1,075 per month from the Department of Veterans Affairs. A modest two-bedroom in the Baltimore region rents for about $2,314. HUD-VASH vouchers stall when Fair Market Rents lag actual rents. Intake windows measured in months leave veterans in crisis with weeks.

CHV closes that specific gap for Maryland veterans that federal programs are not reaching. Not another program layer. Direct housing placements and rent assistance, where the math actually breaks.

Five service categories

We do the direct work we can. Partners multiply it

CHV provides housing and wrap-around support directly, in a limited capacity. The depth around it, case management, health and wellness, financial education, legal aid, and VA benefits navigation, is augmented and force-multiplied by partner organizations. Every veteran has one accountable owner, not a handoff into a void.

CHV does not list or endorse specific partner agencies on this page. Active partners are matched to veterans case-by-case based on geography, need, and capacity.

  • Case management

    CHV-provided, limited; partner-augmented

CHV holds the thread directly where its capacity allows. Partner case-management agencies augment and extend it, so a veteran is never without one accountable person.

  • VA benefits navigation

    CHV-assisted; partner-augmented

CHV assists directly with warm hand-offs and documentation, in a limited capacity. Partner agencies augment the deeper navigation, closing the distance between a veteran and the benefits they have already earned.

  • Health and wellness

    Partner-delivered; CHV-coordinated

Clinical and wellness care is delivered by partner clinicians and community health organizations. CHV coordinates access in a limited capacity; it is not a clinical provider itself.

  • Career development

    Partner-delivered; CHV-connected

Skills translation, credentialing, and apprenticeship pathways are delivered by workforce-development partners. CHV connects veterans to the right partner and stays in the loop.

  • Financial education and legal aid

    Partner-delivered; CHV-coordinated

Financial coaching, benefits-claim advocacy, and legal representation are delivered by specialist partner organizations. CHV coordinates the connection and stays with the veteran through placement.
